(The amazing SoapNuts uses for laundry!)

How do SoapNuts clean your laundry?

The process by which SoapNuts clean your clothes is naturally quite simple. The SoapNut shells contain natural saponin (natures own 100%
natural detergent) that works as a surfactant, making the water “wetter” and allowing it to penetrate the fibers of your clothing, working away the dirt, keeping it in suspension in the water until it’s drained away, taking the dirt with it. SoapNut shells are natural, organic and environmentally friendly.  They are a natural
alternative to all kinds of
detergents, soaps, cleaners and shampoos and are ideal as a chemical free natural detergent in washing machines.

SoapNuts uses for Washing clothes:

Just put 3 to 6 SoapNut shells (4 to 8 half shells) into an un-bleached cotton bag (provided free with each pack of “Sindhiya SoapNuts” ) or in a sock, tie it tightly and pop the bag in the washing machine with your clothes.  The number of shells required depends on your wash load and whether you are using hot or cold water.  They are suitable at any temperature, pre-wash or rinse cycles and on delicate fabrics, and can be used for more than one wash (up to 4 or more washes, according to your load. You will get more washes if using cold water.  It is advisableto use more shells for a heavily soiled wash load). You don’t need to add any other detergent or fabric softener!  The smell of the clothes washed with SoapNuts is absolutely natural.  However, if you prefer scented laundry, simply sprinkle a few drops of essential oil on the bag of SoapNuts: choose from lavender, rose, orange, lemongrass, eucalyptus or any other favorite

essential oil – the variety of fragrances is nearly infinite.

If you are not using the SoapNut shells on the same day, keep them in the bag/sock in a jar of water until you have finished with them (after the fourth/sixth wash load), then discard any remains directly into your compost or worm farm. What’s left is a load of clean clothes and nothing else! That’s the way laundry should be. Much like clean water, clean laundry should not contain toxic chemical residues.

SoapNuts Uses as a bathing liquid soap and shampoo for allergic or sensitive skins:

SoapNuts are 100% natural and gentle on the skin, thus an excellent choice for those who have sensitive skin or suffer from neurodermatitis.  People who suffer from skin allergies will benefit from using SoapNuts, as clothes which are cleaned with SoapNuts do not irritate the skin. The  SoapNuts may be used for bathing instead of normal soap or medicated soap, which contain chemicals.  To make bathing liquid,  put 100 grams of Soapnut shells in a pot with at least  2 litres of water. Cover the pot and bring to the boil.  REMOVE THE LID and simmer for at least 20 to 30 minutes. The boiling process extracts the saponins from the SoapNut shells and combines them with the water. Let the liquid cool until it is safe to handle, then strain into an appropriate container (glass is best as most plastics leach toxic chemicals into their contents). Now your liquid soap is ready for use and you can use it for bathing as well as shampoo or all cleaning purposes, including your pet’s washing soap.

Throw a few SoapNut shells in with your automatic dishwasher and clean your dishes without harmful chemicals!!

SoapNuts are successfully used in dishwashers. They do not, however, act as a scrubbing agent, so it is advisable to rinse your dishes of food particles first. The saponin has a repressive effect on fungal and bacterial growth, so your dishes and cutlery will be thoroughly cleaned without any chemical residue. Put 4 to 5 SoapNuts in the cutlery basket inside the dishwasher and then pour white vinegar into the rinse aid compartment.

What SoapNuts do NOT contain:

Foaming agent chemicals that deceive consumers into thinking their clothes are cleaner because there are “suds” in the wash and they smell like perfume.

TRUTH: Suds have nothing to do with cleaning. They are chemical additives used to create the illusion of cleaning action.

·Fragrance chemicals that make laundry “smell” clean. Most commercial laundry products use toxic, synthetic fragrances that are, in fact, well known to promote cancer and liver disorders. Laundry products are not really regulated by any single government agency, and there is currentlyno law banning the use of known cancer-causing chemicals in laundry products (much the same as with cosmetics).

·Filler ingredients. Nearly all commercial laundry products are made with at least 50% filler ingredients to “bulk them up” and make them appear to deliver more value for the price. Consumers are mostly just buying the illusion of detergent, made mostly with filler.

You won’t find filler or toxic chemicals in SoapNuts. Just pure and natural saponins grow on a tree and engineered by Mother Nature. In our opinion, that’s where more of our products should ultimately come from. Wouldn’t it be great if shampoo also grew on trees?

Actually, it does!
